NK Management at the National Ploughing Championships

The National Ploughing Championships took place in Ballintrane, Co. Carlow recently.

It was attended by a host of the NK Management Talent.  Ryan Tubridy, Doireann Garrihy and Pat Kenny, all broadcast their radio show from the event.  Paul Flynn was doing cookery demonstrations in the Lidl tent, Katherine Thomas and Diarmuid Gavin were hosting the Discover Gardening demo at the Jaguar stand, Karl Henry was there with the Department of Health as part of their new Healthy Ireland campaign.

The NPC is a great showcase of Irish Food, Farming and Culture.   In it's 88th year, the visitor numbers reached an all time high of  297,000 this year, over the 3 days, with exhibitors and visitors alike thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Aoife Hearne is Ambassador for the Great Pink Run

Dietitian and TV personality, Aoife Hearne was part of a panel of experts who were in Langtons in Kilkenny recently, to launch this year's "Great Pink Run".

The event included tips on all the latest things fitness, nutrition, health, exercise an wellness, ahead of the event in Kilkenny Castle on 20th October next.  It is expected that over 10,000 men, women and children will take part in the annual Great Pink Run with Glanbia across three locations, raising much needed funds for Breast Cancer Ireland.

Karl Henry Opens Genomics Medicine Ireland Research Clinic

Irish life sciences company, Genomics Medicine Ireland (GMI), has opened a research clinic in Dublin’s city centre.

The company in association with the UCD Institute of Sport and Health, will conduct research to provide a comprehensive view of potential genetic factors contributing to fitness health, which in turn could lead to the developments of targeted interventions to improve your future health.  Over 3000 volunteers will be assisting in the research that will in time, it is hoped, benefit Irish patients with chronic illnesses.

World Radio Day was celebrated on 13th February 2019.

Flahavans used this day to celebrate a new case study about the use of radio to increase their sales.

A multi-platform collaboration study was carried out over a three week period in 2018 when Flahavans Overnight Oats, a new product to the market was launched.

Based on Independent research, the study showed that the radio campaign stimulated increased interest, brand awareness and ultimately encouraging trial and education of this new breakfast concept. The campaign delivered strong results for this new product launch.

Yvonne Connolly Launches "No One Does Unsweetened Like Alpro"

Yvonne Connolly has recently teamed up with Alpro to help launch their "No One Does Unsweetened Like Alpro" Campaign.

Alpro has found that two in three Irish people don't realise how much sugar is in breakfast foods.  They have just launched the first-ever no sugars and no sweeteners at all oat drink, Alpro Oat Unsweetened  as a new alternative to milk.

A healthy breakfast sets you up for the day and cutting down on your sugar intake is imperative.  

Operation Transformation is Back

A new series of the very popular TV show Operation Transformation returns to your screens on Wednesday evenings, RTE One at 9.35pm.

Kathryn Thomas will host the series along with fitness expert Karl Henry, Dr. Eddie Murphy, a Principal Clinical Psychologist with the HSE and Aoife Hearne - a registered dietitian and Healthy Ireland Council member to help encourage and educate the five leaders.  The newest member of the team is Dr Sumi Dunne.

Over the course of 8 weeks, 5 team leaders will transform their lives by addressing their fitness and making positive changes to their diets with the help of the experts.

​Baz and Nancy Ashmawy, in conjunction with the Irish Osteoporosis Society and Amgen have launched the "Dishes for Density" initiative, to help people get the most from their meals and ensure their own bone health and that of their children and grandchildren is sustained.

A new survey has discovered that Irish people are unaware of the many causes of osteoporosis and one in three of us don’t actively consider the impact that what we are eating has on our bone health. Osteoporosis can be prevented and treated by planning and paying attention to a bone-healthy diet and lifestyle
