| The annual Lord Mayor's Awards took place in the round room in the Mansion House recently. The Lord Mayor Councillor Brendan Carr honoured citizens, who through their through their ordinary, everyday lives, enrich the city in an extraordinary way." Joe Duffy was honoured for his contribution to Irish Society. Joe is best known for presenting "Liveline" on RTE Radio 1, to over 40,000 listeners daily, who tune in to "Talk to Joe". Speaking at the ceremony Joe said "It's a great honour to receive this award. My mother and father are both from the city centre of Dublin and, growing up, I had no relatives outside of Dublin so I think I have all the credentials of being a true-blue Dub." |  |
