Nancy Ashmawy is the seventy-five-year-old mother of Adventurer and Broadcaster Baz Ashmawy. From Ballycoogue in County Wicklow, Nancy currently lives in Dublin. She trained, worked and lived in London for many years. She then lived in Libya and Egypt for over 10 years, where she worked, married and finally returned home to her beloved Ireland to settle.
Nancy spent her whole life as a nurse. In Ireland she was an Assistant Director of Nursing in Bloomfield. Since retirement she began pondering about new challenges and this is where Baz stepped in to devise an outrageous list of challenges and adventures for them to do together for the International Emmy and IFTA Award winning series 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy, on Sky 1. In the three series’ which was created by Baz and co-produced for Sky by Brown Bread Films and Burning Bright Productions, Nancy and her son Baz took on a number of challenges from skydiving to alligator wrangling and white water rafting to gambling in Vegas. Series three saw a twist to the show's format where Baz and Nancy were joined by four other mammies who travel the planet and engage in a range of hair-raising stunts.
Following the tremendous success of the series on Sky 1, the format has been sold to over 100 territories worldwide.
In her spare time, she loves to take on challenges of a more passive kind – scrabble, quizzes and crosswords! She also enjoys walking tours and waltzing.
