Kian Egan
Kian is a Musician and Broadcaster, best known for being one quarter of Westlife, one of the most successful boy bands of our time.

He grew up on the West Coast of Ireland and first walked on stage at the age of four. He learnt the piano, guitar and a whole host of instruments in his younger years, whilst looking up to his older brothers and dreaming of being on stage in a band.

Kian attended dance and drama school where he played parts in musicals such as Grease, Oliver, West Side Story and Annie. It was at school that he met his band mates Shane and Mark who also took part in school musicals alongside Kian and they formed the band now known as Westlife.

Westlife’s first big break came in 1998 when they opened for the Backstreet Boys’ concerts in Dublin. Their first single, Swear it Again, went straight to number one in the UK and their self-titled first album peaked at No.2 following its release in November 1999.

The band’s second album, Coast to Coast, beat the Spice Girl’s Forever album and became the UK’s 4th biggest selling album of 2000. Following the departure of their fifth member, the band continued to top the charts as a foursome and their comeback single You Raise Me Up was named Record of the Year in 2005. Back Home, the band’s ninth album debuted at No.1 in November 2007, however, their Back Home Tour was to be their last before a year long hiatus. During this year, Kian married long-term girlfriend Jodi Albert. In 2008, he joined up with Louis Walsh for a new venture to put together and co-manage girlband, Wonderland.

Westlife returned in November 2009 with their tenth musical offering, Where We Are, which peaked at No.2 in the UK charts. A year later, the band released their tenth and final studio album, Gravity, with their 11th major concert tour following quickly afterwards. Twelve years, twelve albums, 45 million sales, 14 UK No. 1’s and 25 Top Ten Singles later, Westlife announced their greatest hits album would be their last and the band embarked on a farewell tour in Spring 2012. This year in 2019 sees the band reunite for a stadium tour of both Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Following on from Westlife, 2012 was a very exciting year for Kian; he kicked off the year as one of the coaches on RTÉ One’s The Voice of Ireland, the hugely successful international series which ran for five seasons.  Kian then went on to co-present the bootcamp episodes of The Xtra Factor with Caroline Flack on ITV and quickly secured a regular slot every Friday on ITV1’s This Morning with his own X Factor gossip segment. In the same year, Kian also landed the role of roving reporter on ITV's revived version of Surprise Surprise which aired in October 2012.

Kian continued to work with
RTÉ for the third series of The Voice of Ireland in 2013. He also took part in the 13th series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here on ITV where he was crowned King of the Jungle.

In 2014, Kian was seen back on ITV1 as he assumed the role of showbiz correspondent for This Morning, following all of the I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here gossip. He then returned to the jungle to hand over his crown to the next King of the jungle, Carl Fogarty!

Not steering too far from his love of music, Kian released his debut solo album in 2014, Home, with Rhino UK part of Warner Music UK. The album debuted in the UK’s Top 10 Album Charts and went straight in at Number 2 in the Irish Album Charts after its release on 17th March. Kian then toured all summer of 2014 playing to over 400,000 fans across the UK and Ireland.

In 2015, Kian presented Fat Pets: Slimmer of the Year on ITV. This was a one-off week of shows for ITV Daytime which featured the annual Pet Fit Club competition. The show met the dogs, cats and rabbits who had spent the past six months battling the bulge to get back to a fit and healthy weight.

In 2018, Kian and his son Koa took part in ITV's Big Star Little Star which saw Kian and Koa answer questions about each other in order to raise money for charity.

Kian has worked with Coca-Cola for the past two years on their ‘Clean Coasts’ campaign which encourages communities to keep their local coastlines tidy.
