Gary is an Award-Winning Chef, Broadcaster and Columnist. Gary is the Executive Head Chef at The K Club. Previously he was the Executive Chef at Chateau du Coudreceau (The Condor) in France, and Head Chef at Viewmount House from 2008-2018. Originally from Ramelton, Co. Donegal. Before returning to Ireland in 2005, Gary spent 6 years cooking at Devlins in Boston.
Gary is Co-Host of the Food Podcast ‘Dishing It Out’ which has just been renewed for a 4th season and is going from strength to strength.
Gary has appeared numerous times on the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen and also had a Recipe Column in The Irish Times for a number of years.
When cooking at Viewmount House Gary won the 2014 Georgina Campbell Award for ‘Best Restaurant in Ireland’ and in 2018 won the Georgina Campbell Special Award for ‘Services to Irish Food’ VM @ Viewmount House was ever present in the Michelin Guide for all Gary’s Ten years at the helm and VM was named Best Restaurant in Leinster in 2010, 2012, 2014 & 2016 by the RAI and Food & Wine Magazine respectively. Viewmount House won The Good Hotel Guide ‘Best Country House Ireland’ in 2018.
Gary has been ever present on our screens since 2009 with regular appearances on RTÉ, Channel 4, the BBC and Virgin Media.
Gary is the starter Chef on The Restaurant TV Show for the past 14 years and he has also appeared on MasterChef Ireland, Healthy Appetite, Neven Maguire’s Home Chef and he regularly appears on The Today Show with Maura & Daithi.
For 3 years Gary had a weekly Recipe/Food discussion slot with Ciara Kelly on Lunchtime Live Newstalk and to this day he still contributes to many National Radio programmes, mainly The Pat Kenny Show, Newstalk Breakfast, The Hard Shoulder, The Anton Savage Show and The Sean Moncrieff Show.
Gary’s First Cookbook was for Bluebird Care to raise funds for Active Retirement Ireland and it won a Gourmand World Book Award for Best Cookbook In Ireland.
Gary is a proud member of Eurotoques Ireland he sat on The Irish Food Council for 5 plus years.
