Donncha O’Callaghan is a retired Irish International Rugby player, Radio and TV Broadcaster and Author. O’Callaghan began his rugby education in Highfield Rugby Club on the Model Farm Road in Cork and began his career with his home province of Munster. He spent seventeen seasons with the province and won five major trophies before finishing his career with the Worcester Warriors in the English Rugby Premiership. Internationally, O’Callaghan represented Ireland and was part of the team that won the Six Nations Grand Slam in 2009. He also toured with the British and Irish Lions in 2005 and 2009 and was invited to play for the Barbarians twice. Donncha has been capped 94 times for Ireland and has won two Heineken Cups with Munster.
Donncha previously presented 2FM Breakfast weekday mornings from 6am-9am. He is a regular face on our TV screens appearing as a Coach on ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’ and ‘The Full Irish Hidden Camera Show’ on RTÉ One, alongside his work as an expert pundit with TNT Sports (previously BT Sports), Channel 4, BBC One, and RTÉ One. Donncha previously hosted ‘Donncha’s Two Talented’, a family entertainment Talent show on RTÉjr and RTÉ One.
In 2011, Donncha released his auto-biography entitled ‘Joking Apart: My Autobiography’. His book is a fascinating account of a storming career battling personal setbacks and disappointments to achieve success and reaching the high performance standards required of an International Rugby Player.
Given his experience working with an array of Rugby teams around the world, Donncha is regularly invited to speak to corporate companies about his experience learning to work as part of a team as well as delivering talks on leadership and achieving, building and maintaining high performance.
Donncha has been an Ambassador with UNICEF since 2009 and to date has visited South Africa, Haiti, Zimbabwe, Lebanon and Syria with the charity.
