Brian Dowling Gourounlian is a Radio and TV Broadcaster, Podcast Host and Author. Brian presents the mid-morning show on 98FM with Suzanne Kane Monday to Friday from 10am-1pm. He also presents The Six O’Clock Show on Virgin Media.
In March 2023, Brian and his husband Arthur released a very personal documentary titled “Brian and Arthur’s Very Modern Family”. This details their personal surrogacy journey in Ireland and their joy at the arrival of their beautiful baby girl. This show aired on RTÉ One, and it is also available to watch on Discovery+ and aired on REALLY TV in the UK. In October 2023, Brian released his first book, Brian Dowling and Arthur Gourounlian’s Modern Family: Births, Marriage, Deaths and Everything in Between, which was a number-one bestseller.
He currently hosts his own hugely successful podcast series ‘Death Becomes Him’ with the last four seasons of this charting at number 1 and which currently has 2.5 million downloads / plays. When Brian lost his mum Rosie, it changed his outlook on life. Grief is a complicated journey, and one that Brian now endeavours to explore with the help of his celebrity friends and family. Over the course of the episodes, Brian and his nearest and dearest try to grow to understand death through open conversation with humour and honesty. Brian also presented the official Dancing with the Stars podcast.
Brian was crowned the winner of Big Brother in 2001 and since then, he has forged a career as one of Britain and Ireland’s best loved TV personalities. In 2010, he was crowned the winner of Ultimate Big Brother on Channel 4, which is testament to his popularity with the general public who vote for the winner. He holds the record for never once being up for eviction during his two stays in the house, making him the first ever person to win Big Brother in the UK twice. Brian subsequently served as host of Big Brother from 2011-2013.
For nearly two years Brian fronted the BAFTA Award winning SMTV Live where he made history in the UK as the very first openly gay children’s TV presenter. He has also hosted many prestigious events, including the Variety Club Show business Awards, Elle Style Awards, the First Light Film Awards, and The Gossies. Brian has also fronted huge live events, including Party In The Park and O2 In The Park.
Most recently, Brian’s presented Virgin Media’s new home makeover show, titled The Salvage Squad to great success. This is a home makeover show with a difference, and that difference is sustainability. All families participating in the show are allocated their own designer, a €1000 budget and three days to perform this makeover. Brian currently hosts The Real Housewives Of Cheshire Reunion on ITVX plus and has also hosted The Real Housewives of Jersey on ITVX.
