Will Sliney is an Irish comic book artist, writer, and television presenter whose creative reach spans Marvel Comics, sports illustration, television, and, more recently, Hollywood. Best known for his work on Spider-Man 2099 and Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren, his contributions extend beyond comics, with collaborations including the Premier League, the launch of Marvel’s Twitch stream, and the development of The Shrouded College, an original universe set to be adapted for film. His art initiative WeWillDraw during the COVID-19 pandemic reached all corners of the globe.
Sliney, from Ballycotton, County Cork, Ireland, began his career in Irish independent comics. To this day, Sliney believes that officially giving Spider-Man roots in Cork is one of his crowning achievements... but then again, he’s from Cork.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sliney launched the #WeWillDraw initiative on social media, offering free art tutorials for children and aspiring artists. This community-driven project quickly gained momentum and encouraged hundreds of thousands of young people to explore their creativity. Additionally, Sliney spearheaded the launch of Marvel’s official Twitch channel, where he hosted live drawing sessions and interactive art streams.
Sliney later brought his educational vision to television with Will Sliney’s Storytellers, a show that combines art instruction with storytelling to entertain and inspire young audiences. His show Draw with Will is a creative and educational program on Sky, aimed at young audiences. The show combines Sliney’s passion for art and teaching, guiding viewers through step-by-step drawing tutorials that bring iconic characters like Batman, Paw Patrol, Spongebob, and more to life. In a major career milestone, Sliney co-created The Shrouded College, an original comic universe, alongside writer Charles Soule. This series weaves together thrilling stories of supernatural mystery, following characters as they navigate the perils of a hidden world of magic and danger. Its success led to an optioning deal with Universal Pictures.
