Celine Byrne is a Lyric Soprano who made her operatic début as Mimi in La Bohéme in 2010 and in the seasons that followed she has performed extensively throughout Europe, as well as in the United States, China, Russia and Mexico. She has sung with world renowned tenors José Carreras, Placido Domingo, Roberto Alagna and Andrea Bocelli and has sung for such dignitaries as HRH Queen Elizabeth, President Barack Obama, Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict and Pope Francis. Her compelling and thrilling performances have won her the universal acclaim of audiences and critics across the opera world.
Celine, a native of Naas, Co. Kildare began her singing career as part of Naas Musical society singing such roles as Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady), Magnolia (Show Boat) and Anna Glavari in the Merry Widow for which she won the national AIMS Award for Best Singer and Best Overall Performance. She obtained her Music Degree from DIT followed by a Masters from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Celine has received many awards and prizes for her singing and in 2007 Celine was awarded First Prize and Gold Medal at the International Maria Callas Grand Prix, Athens. She has appeared on many TV shows both in Ireland and abroad including her acclaimed performance in Centenary for RTÉ.
Her velvety, elegant voice has marked her out for stunning performances with her operatic roles as Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly with the Moscow State Opera, Floria Tosca in Tosca with Opera Østfold in association with Norway National Opera and Die Marschallin in Der Rosenkavlier in Germany and Micaela in Royal Opera House, Covent Garden to name but a few. In 2018, Celine performed for Pope Francis at the Festival of Families in Croke Park and she also sung at President Michael D Higgin's inauguration.

Celine’s strong, lustrous voice, impressive poise and assured acting ability sees her star continue to brighten. She has performed as Contessa Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro in Staatstheater Kassel followed by Mimì in La Bohème with Moscow's Novaya Opera which had performances in Dublin. Other performances included Liu in Turandot with Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf, Micaela in Carmen with Moscow State Opera and Elizabeth in Verdi’s Don Carlo with Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf. Celine has also sung Madama Butterfly in Stockholm, Donna Elvira with Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv directed by Kasper Holten, Tosca with Mikhailovsky Opera, St. Petersburg and Madama Butterfly conducted by Francesco Angelico in Kassel.

A frequent concert performer, Celine is very familiar to both Irish and international audiences and has also performed with World-Renowned Tenors José Carreras, Roberto Alagna and Joseph Calleja. Celine has also performed in concert with Bryn Terfel and recently sung with him and Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Sasha Goetzel. Celine also performed with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra as part of their Summer Gala under André Lenard. Additional engagements included concerts with Josè Carreras in Europe, China and Russia, having performed her 30th concert with him at The Royal Albert Hall in May last year as well as, Richard Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder in Austria, a concert in Carnegie Hall, NY and Verdi's Requiem with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by André Lenard. Last season also saw Celine sing Donna Elvira with the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv directed by Kasper Holten, Tosca with Mikhailovsky Opera, St. Petersburg, Madama Butterfly conducted by Francesco Angelico in Kassel followed by Die Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier in Santiago. During the 2017 Christmas period she performed the role of Mother Abbess in Bill Kenright’s acclaimed production of The Sound of Music in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.

In December 2017, Celine also took to the stage of the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre for her wonderful 'Christmas Gala'. Celine returned to the theatre Christmas 2018 with another Christmas Gala spectacular.
2018 was another busy year for Celine which saw her perform extensively across the world stage and also at home. In August, Celine was on hand to welcome Pope Francis at the Festival of Families in Croke Park. Celine performed a heartfelt duet of ‘Ave Maria’ with acclaimed global tenor, Andrea Bocelli. She also gave a phenomenal solo performance of ‘Ag Críost an Síol’. In November, Celine took to the stage of Dublin Castle to give a moving version of ‘Amazing Grace’ as President Michael D Higgins was sworn in for another term as President of Ireland. This was the second time this year Celine performed for the President having delighted audiences in June with musical renditions at the Bloomsday Celebrations in Áras and Uachtaráin. Additional 2018 performances included Puccini’s La Rondine with the Minnesota Opera, Madama Butterfly in Kassel and Le Nozze de Figaro in Theatre Bonn.

Celine received her Masters in Music from the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 2007, where she studied with Dr. Veronica Dunne, also receiving the RIAM award for outstanding achievement. In addition she has an honours Music Degree from the Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin, where she was awarded the college Gold Medal for excellence. She has received coaching at the National Opera Studio of London and has studied with Christa Ludwig at the Vienna Staatsoper. Other awards include the Margaret Burke-Sheridan Gold Medal in 2009, the William Young Prize at the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition, Dublin 2007. She was also awarded the Margaret Burke-Sheridan Gold Medal in 2009 for her contribution to the Arts, the William Young Prize at the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition, Dublin 2007 and the ‘Brabants Dagblad Press Prize’ at the IVC International Singing Competition in s’Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.
Celine is also a great supporter and Ambassador of the charity Children in Hospital Ireland.
