For the past three years Brian has starred in the massive TV ratings hit and multi award winning Irish version of “The Apprentice” as one of the two stern and uncompromising judges. Reared in his parents public bar in the small four pub village of Ballyduff in North Kerry Brian was trained in the art of communication by his parents as he served customers from the age of eight. The experience of dealing with the public constantly from such a young age has directly lead to Brian’s versatility as a popular guest contributor and expert commentator on TV and radio in light entertainment as well as current affairs and business shows on TV3, Today FM, Newstalk and many regional radio stations. In the past he has also co-presented the breakfast morning shows on 98FM and Radio Kerry.
Brian’s rural upbringing led him to taking a degree in Environmental Science in UCD and he started his career as a Marine Biologist followed by a stint as an Environmental Scientist. As a result of publicising his scie
ntific work he made the leap into the world of Communications and is now a highly respected consultant in PR, Marketing, Political Lobbying and Community Relations where he has carried out work in the environment, energy, agri, financial, retail, telco, defence sectors as well as some high profile personalities.
As a result of “The Apprentice” Brian is regularly invited to give motivation and mentoring seminars to teenagers which he hugely enjoys. Brian is also a regular MC at events and awards around the country and is an engaging and down to earth host with varying styles ranging from the relaxed to the fun and energised motivator. He has also been a columnist for the Sunday Business Post and regularly features in commentary across all national and print media.
Brian has a passion for all things rural and his favourite pastimes are anything to do with horses and greyhounds from which he has experience as an on-course TV anchor and live interviewer. He is a keen and regular competitor on the showjumping scene with numerous prizes to his name and what is not as well known is the fact that he is an original founder of a male choir and will sing a song at the drop of a hat!
