Ryan Tubridy - RTE PresenterRyan Tubridy is a television and radio presenter on Radio Telefis Eireann in Ireland. Ryan was born in Blackrock, Dublin and is the nephew of former MEP Niall Andrews, and the former Cabinet minister David Andrews.


Tubridy was educated at Blackrock College and University College Dublin, where he studied History and Greek and Roman Civilisation. Ryan Tubridy RTE Following university Tubridy entered RTE where he worked as a reporter for presenters Gerry Ryan and Pat Kenny, as well as occasionally presenting the radio show Five Seven Live.


In the summer of 1999 Tubridy presented Morning Glory on RTE Radio 1 and in July of 2000 he moved to The Sunday Show, one of Radio 1's premier Sunday morning shows. From 2002 until 2005 he presented RTE 2FM's hugely popular morning show, The Full Irish. He currently presents The Tubridy Show, weekday mornings on Radio 1, having taken over from Marian Finucane.


Tubridy has also hosted the Esat BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in the RDS twice, in 2003 and also for the 40th anniversary celebration of the competition in 2004. In 2003, he was made the presenter of the high-profile Rose of Tralee competition, in which women of Irish descent from all over the world compete to be named 'The Rose of Tralee'. The programme, which runs over two nights and dominates the TV schedule in August every year, was previously presented by Late Late Show presenter Gay Byrne, Derek Davis and Marty Whelan.


Summer 2004 saw Tubridy present his own game show, All Kinds of Everything. In October that same year, Tubridy hosted the newly created Tubridy Tonight, a live Saturday night chat show. The show proved so successful and in May 2009, Ryan was offered the role to become the host of the Late Late Show, Irelands most popular TV show and the world`s longest running chat show.  Since taking the big seat, viewership figures have been phenomenal with a 1.6 million reach.  Ryan’s charismatic and warm personality has attracted a huge amount of Irish and international superstars since the show aired on September 4th 2009, including Vince Vaughan, Joan Collins, Jermaine Jackson, Kelly, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Jimmy Carr, Ant and Dec, Riki Lake, Cilla Black, Taoiseach Brian Cowen and former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern.


More recently, Tubridy has embarked on a career as a writer, having composed JFK in Ireland, a profile of U.S. President John F. Kennedy's 1963 visit to Ireland. He is currently working on a second book. Aside from broadcasting and writing, Tubridy's intense passion for U.S. politics is common knowledge.  Having spent 18 months researching President Kennedy's historic visit to Ireland in 1963, Ryan worked on a documentary for RTE 1 which was a remarkable journey behind the scenes at this era-defining visit.


In 2011 Ryan began working with BBC Radio 2.  Ryan covered for Graham Norton on Saturday mornings from 10am-1pm.  This proved to be such a success that he was asked back to cover for Ken Bruce over the Christmas period.


Tubridy has several wins and nominations at the Meteor Awards to his name, dating from his time as host of The Full Irish. He also won TV Now Awards for Best Male Presenter and “Favourite Irish TV Show”.  Ryan was named one of ten "icons" of 21st century Ireland by the Sunday Tribune's Derek O'Connor in 2008.  He was awarded Dubliner of the Year by The Dubliner magazine in 2009.

Ryan gives up a huge amount of his free time and is involved with many charities.  He actively works with St Vincent DePaul, Crumlin Children’s Hospital, the Down Syndrome Centre, St Michael’s Regeneration Board, UNICEF, ISPCC, Childline to name but a few.
