Ricky Simms - Sports Agent

Ricky Simms represented by Noel Kelly Ricky Simms is an athletics agent and owner of the world leading athletics management company PACE Sports Management.  His clients include six times Olympic Champion, world record holder and ‘world’s fastest man’ Usain Bolt; double Olympic Champion Mo Farah; triple World Champion Vivian Cheruiyot as well as a host of other Olympic and World Champions.

Ricky Simms represented by Noel Kelly Simms was born in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal in 1974.  He attended the University of Ulster in Jordanstown where he attained a BA (Hons) Sports and Leisure Studies degree and a PGCE in Physical Education.  He spent a few years in teaching before moving to work in the National Coaching and Training Center (NCTC) in Limerick.  In 2000 he moved to London to work for leading athletics agent Kim McDonald, famous for managing the careers of many top athletes including Sonia O’Sullivan, Moses Kiptanui, Daniel Komen, Liz McColgan and Steve Ovett.  Other Irish athletes in the KIM stable included Frank O’Mara, Marcus O’Sullivan, John Treacy, Dave Matthews etc.

Following the death of McDonald in November 2011 Simms, a former Irish middle distance runner who ran for Finn Valley AC, took over the business with his partner Marion Steininger.  Among the athletes they recruited were a young sprinter from Jamaica called Usain Bolt and a long distance runner from Britain called Mo Farah.  Usain Bolt went on to become one of the most famous sportsmen on the planet and a three times winner of the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year.  At his home Olympic Games in London in 2012 Mo Farah won the 5000m and 10,000m distance double to add to his World and European titles.  With this success plus winning performances from a number of other top athletes on their roster Simms became one of the most successful sports agents in the world and his company PACE Sports Management gained global recognition for developing and marketing athletics stars.

Ricky has been listed in Sports Business International’s Top 20 Most Influential sports agents in the world; named three times in the Top 20 most influential people in athletics in the UK; awarded a European Athletics Association Coaching honour for services to athletics and was a winner of the Athletics Kenya Agent of the Year award.  He is a Board member of the Association of Athletics managers (AAM) and an IAAF authorizes and licensed Athlete Representative.
