Joe Duffy presents Ireland most popular daily radio show, Liveline, with 400,000 listeners , at 1:45 on RTE Radio 1.
Born in Dublin in 1956, Joe joined RTÉ Radio as a producer in 1989. Since then he has worked his way through several shows, first as a reporter on the Gay Byrne Show and then as presenter of several programmes including the media programme Soundbyte.
Liveline is now firmly established as a national institution - while "talk to joe " has become the catch cry of those in trouble with big and powerful bodies in Ireland. It is speech radio at its best. "If people have a story to tell they phone Liveline", he says. "The topics come from the callers. They make the show what it is". And that could be anything, from dodgy dealers to your favourite holiday reading.
Joe also writes a weekly column for the Irish Mail on Sunday - and his recently published autobiography - “Just Joe”, went straight to number one- and has remained in the top ten hardback charts since then.
With accolades from The Irish Independent- "irresistible .. the story of a quite extraordinary journey taken with courage and purpose.." Irish Times _" if you want to know how education can transform and change lives, this is inspiring" and Gay Byrne -" Beautifully written, honest and thoroughly enjoyable , a great read."
Just Joe will be published in paperback in april next.
