Ryan Tubridy is a television and radio presenter on Radio Telefis Eireann in Ireland.
Ryan was born in Blackrock, Dublin and is the nephew of former MEP Niall Andrews, and the former Cabinet minister David Andrews. Tubridy was educated at Blackrock College and University College Dublin, where he studied History and Greek and Roman Civilisation.
Following university Tubridy entered RTE where he worked as a reporter for presenters Gerry Ryan and Pat Kenny, as well as occasionally presenting the radio show Five Seven Live. In the summer of 1999 Tubridy presented Morning Glory on RTE Radio 1 and in July of 2000 he moved to The Sunday Show, one of Radio 1's premier Sunday morning shows.
From 2002 until 2005 he presented RTE 2FM's hugely popular morning show, The Full Irish. He currently presents The Tubridy Show, weekday mornings on Radio 1, having taken over from Marian Finucane.
Tubridy has also hosted the Esat BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in the RDS twice, in 2003 and also for the 40th anniversary celebration of the competition in 2004.
In 2003, he was made the presenter of the high-profile Rose of Tralee competition, in which women of Irish descent from all over the world compete to be named 'The Rose of Tralee'. The programme, which runs over two nights and dominates the TV schedule in August every year, was previously presented by Late Late Show presenter Gay Byrne, Derek Davis and Marty Whelan.
Summer 2004 saw Tubridy present his own game show, All Kinds of Everything.
In October 2004, Tubridy was put in the role of host of the newly created Tubridy Tonight, a live Saturday night chat show. The show has proved so successful and in May 2009, Ryan was offered the role to become the next host of the Late Late Show, which will begin on September 4th this year.
