Michelle Heaton - Singer - TV Presenter

Michelle Heaton was born in Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne on 19th July 1979. Between the ages of 3 and 10 she attended a stage and dance school called Sandra Revely’s, where she learnt the basics to aid in acting and dance.

From the age of 9 to 17 she sang every year in the Haven holiday talent search, each year winning the regional finals, not only in the talent search but also the beauty competition.

Michelle attended Emmanuel College between 11 and 18 where she sang every year in their Christmas carol services and presentation evenings which took place in Newcastle City Hall, and also acted in the yearly school productions.

Michelle left Emmanuel College with 11 GCSE'S, an advanced GNVQ in business and an A-level in economics.

However, she decided to follow her passion on stage by studying drama and performing arts at Newcastle College, where she graduated with distinction.

On leaving Newcastle College she had a brief career as a dancer while auditioning for singing and acting jobs all around the country.

Over the next 2 years Michelle appeared and acted in TV programmes such as Crimewatch (acting in the reconstructions, not committing the crimes), a couple of BBC documentaries (again acting in reconstructions of events), Heartbeat and Newcastle's favourite, Byker Grove to name but a few.

She was in a girl band called 'Sirens' for a short while, and then in 2000 the audition that changed her life came along. Popstars was a nationwide talent search to find the next big pop group.

She made it to the final 10 but did not make the final line-up which went on to become the pop band 'Hear-say'. Fortunately, she went on to form the hugely successful pop group 'Liberty X' with the remaining 4 contestants of Popstars.

For almost 6 years the band received many accolades, including 9 top 10 singles, a Brit award, Disney award and a Smash Hits award. During her time in the band, Michelle started her hand at presenting, appearing on many shows including several appearances on Toonattick, GMTV, CDUK, SMTV and many others.

Michelle and her husband Andy Scott-Lee also had their own TV show on ITV2 called 'Michelle and Andys big day'. It featured the planning, ceremony and the honeymoon of their wedding. It was a huge success and was one of ITV2's most successful shows of 2006.

Michelle and Andy also appeared together in the north east's pantomime 'Cinderella' alongside Hollywood legend Mickey Rooney. It was the country’s most successful pantomime of the year.

Her recent projects have included a 6 month run on the popular RTE TV show called 'You’re a Star' which is considered to be Irelands version of the 'X Factor'. Michelle was a judge on the panel alongside Keith Duffy from Boyzone. She has since received high recognition in Ireland, and recently won an award for the show, which was the most successful show on Irish TV this year!

Michelle was also recently a participant on Channel 4’s ‘Celebrity Come Dine With Me’. Michelle is now focusing on stage work, presenting and going back to her roots of acting.

Michelle has started off 2009 as a participant on Celebrity Big Brother 2009. For further information please contact David Samuel or Tammy Laws on 020 77401600.
