Gerry Ryan was born in Dublin. He studied law at University College Dublin and went to work as an apprentice solicitor. He is one of Ireland's top broadcasters on primetime television and radio.

Having started his broadcasting career as a rock and pop music DJ on pirate radio in Dublin, he graduated to RTE Radio 2 and shared a late night slot there with the likes of Dave Fanning and Mark Cagney.
His talent for talk radio lead to his appointment to 2FM's mid morning programme where he has established himself as a household name and Ireland's premier ' shock jock' for the last 15 years.
On television, Gerry has appeared as host of numerous light entertainment shows on RTE and has recently had repeat runs of Ryan Confidential, his own unique late night chat show, speaking one on one with some of Ireland's most famous celebs from the world of sports, politics and entertainment.
